Lost melodies part 2

Among the male playback singers of very early films of the last century, K L Saigal, Pankaj Mullick and K C Dey have their names etched in gold. It may surprise many, but K L Saigal recorded only about 180 songs during his lifetime. Yet he became the most emulated male singer of all-time in the Hindi film industry.

The vintage songs of Pankaj Mullick, KL Saigal, DV Paluskar, KC Dey, Manna Dey, Hemant Kumar, Mohd. Rafi, CH Atma, Jagmohan, Juthika Roy, Begum Akhtar, Talat Mehmood etc. are now seldom played on radio. In those days there was no device that could have given us indestructible quality of that divine music. I wish that this site just gives that. Thanks.
